Jacqui is an artist who works with drawing, collage and painting. Her work is a visual response to physical and mental trauma based on the politics of human behaviour and how people are seen and portrayed both by themselves and the media. She is interested in how people present themselves and how it affects their sense of self and distorts reality.

Working mainly in black and white Jacqui makes sharp immediate images from digital compositions, where she has enhanced photographs, mainly of women

Jacqui is influenced by artists such as Marlene Dumas, Ken Currie, Kurt Schwitters, Robert Rauschenberg and the Fluxus Art Movement and inspired by news.

Although Jacqui highlights serious issues close to her heart she also injects humour to offer an emotional release ‘no matter how ridiculous a situation might be’.  Jacqui hopes to evoke an emotional response from the viewer and prompt conversations on society and hopefully laugh at some of its idiosyncrasies

Jacqui was born in North London and now lives in Hertfordshire where she has her studio.  She studied at St Martins School of Art in the 1980’s and spent several years as an exhibition designer and window dresser.  She regularly exhibits in London, including the Mall Galleries, The Discerning Eye, The Society of Women Artists, and Passion for Freedom, and has work in private collections.
